Mail Delivery Tracking: How it Works
IMb TracingTM takes advantage of existing technologies that provide enhanced mail visibility. IMb Tracing allows mailers to uniquely identify and receive mail processing data for outgoing mail. With IMb Tracing, you identify mailpieces with a prescribed Intelligent Mail barcode. As mailpieces with Intelligent Mail barcodes are processed, electronic records are created and made available to the mailer.
IMb Tracing™ scan data reflects the automated processing of mailpieces; however, due to the nature of mail processing there is no guarantee that a mailpiece will receive a scan. When a mailpiece does receive a scan, there are several factors such as shape, presort level, and destinating zone that impact overall scan performance. These factors should be considered when interpreting scan data.
Scan Data: When Is It Available?
We receive updated scan data every morning from the USPS®. If your order item is in that scan data, we will update your order item status from Mailed to Delivered by noon. Additionally, the USPS Tracking scan data will be available for download.
We keep all scan data for 90 days. The option to download the data will no longer be displayed when the data is purged from our system.
Direct Mailing: Is It Delivered?
The last scan your mailpiece will receive is at the post office before it is put onto a truck for delivery. This is as close as we can estimate a delivery, as there are no scanning devices at the final destination (a mailbox). The Timestamp will provide you with the date and time of the scan.

Typical mailings all arrive at the same destination post office and are all scanned on the same day. Occasionally, a mailing will arrive at two or more destination post offices.
Sometimes your mailing may go to different zip codes and different post offices. In this case, some of your pieces may be scanned while others are not. A mailpiece that has not yet been scanned will look like this:
